Innovation and continuous improvement at Wolverine led to a rich portfolio of Abutment Clip materials that have the following characteristics: superior durability, low coefficient of friction (COF), corrosion resistance, and damping. These material characteristics, along with a solid Abutment Clip design, are very effective solutions in reducing brake NVH.
Wolverine clip materials can provide an effective and sustainable pad sliding mechanism with damping that will minimize/eliminate the brake NVH due to pad sliding, including:
DAMPING IN THE IN-PLANE VIBRATION DIRECTION
Dramatically helps in the in-plane direction since, during braking, the damping layer absorbs energy normally transmitted from the pad to the bracket. This is true for both forward and reverse applies.
BETTER EAR-TO-BRACKET ALIGNMENT AND DAMPING
In systems where the space between the pad backplate ear design and the caliper anchor bracket is excessive, the Rubber Coated Material (RCM) clip helps with “filling in tolerances” for a better ear-to-bracket alignment. It also damps out noise during braking.
A COST-EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE TO A CHANGE IN ANCHOR BRACKET DESIGN
Low frequency noise occurrences sometimes require the caliper manufacturer to change the anchor bracket stiffness to help reduce noise. The RCM clip reduces the noise signature in all directions, making them a cost-effective alternative to a change in anchor bracket design.
